Masová alija z bývalého SSSR zanechala v izraelské společnosti nesmazatelnou stopu. Integrace přistěhovalců se však neobešla bez problémů a obětí. Film zachycuje příběh monumentálního exodu ze Sovětského svazu v 90. letech 20. století, viděný očima tzv. „jedenapůlté generace“ – těch, kdo do Izraele emigrovali jako děti nebo teenageři. I teď, po 30 letech života v Izraeli pro ně vlastní identita i pocit sounáležitosti s adoptivní vlastí představuje důležité téma. Hovoří o diskriminaci a rasismu, které zažili, o kompromisech, které oni i jejich rodiče museli dělat, a kladou si otázku, zda tato zásadní životní změna skutečně stála za to.

The massive aliyah from the former USSR left an indelible mark on Israeli society. But their integration was not without challenges and sacrifices. The film captures the narrative of the monumental exodus from the Soviet Union during the 1990s, as seen through the eyes of the “Generation 1.5”: those who immigrated to Israel as children or teenagers. Now, 30 years later, fully assimilated adults, they grapple with their identity and sense of belonging in their adopted homeland. They contemplate the discrimination and racism experienced, the compromises made by them and their parents, and question whether the profound life-altering shift was indeed worthwhile.
